Virtual Talk: Agrarian Crisis, Farmers Protest, and Climate Change in India @ Online via Zoom

Farmers‘ protests in India have aggravated since 2020. This can be seen as an outcome of a severe and complex agrarian crisis brewing for the past two decades. In this seminar, Kunal will unpack who are the protesting farmers and what are their key demands to understand the roots of the agrarian crisis. The talk will end with a discussion on ecological issues and climate change, and how they are contributing to the agrarian crisis in India.

About the presenter:
Kunal Munjal is a Senior Research Fellow at the Economic Analysis Unit, Indian Statistical Institute Bengaluru, India, and a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Liberal Arts, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, India. His research focuses on agrarian studies, commodity exchange relations, and political economy in India.
